Captions that create conversations

  • by

Your Facebook ad looks great and is getting clicks, but you’re not seeing an increase in likes and shares on your page. Sound familiar?

Clicks are important but growing your online business requires engagement, and it is measured through interactions between customers and your business such as likes, follows, shares, and comments.

One way to increase engagement is inviting conversation between yourself and your audience through captions on your posts.

Try some of these techniques aimed at getting dialogue opened up between you and your page’s visitors:

Ask for feedback
Try asking your audience how well your posts have been resonating, if there is something else they would like to see instead.

Tell a joke
Sharing a joke you saw circulating, or a meme that relates to your business can be a good way to get a reaction.  Laughter is the best medicine!

Did you know?
Little factoids are fun and make the audience feel like they have some insider info on your brand.

Personal anecdotes
Does a post remind you of something from your childhood?  Share that experience and invite others to do the same.

Relevant statistics
Show your audience that you have your ear to the ground on the latest industry and local news.

Inspirational quotes
Whether it’s Albert Einstein or the latest blockbuster superhero movie, sometimes a simple quote speaks volumes.

This just in!
Be the authority of breaking news for your audience when it comes to what is going on in your area, or affects your business.

Start a poll or survey
You can get insights and data from your audience, and it keeps them engaged enough to come back and see the results when the poll is finished.  It’s a win-win!

Your opinion matters
Share your opinion on the post, then invite others to do the same.  If there is one thing we all like it’s giving our opinion!

Asking for help is a great way to let your customers speak to their own expertise, and will allow for customers to engage with one another as well.

Before and after
Invite your audience to share their opinion about some changes you made recently.  Was the alteration a success?

They say it’s not what you know, but who you know.  This is an easy way to share content between users by having them tag each other in the post.

Tips, Hacks & Tricks
Who says you can’t teach old dogs new tricks?  A curious and helpful way to make routine tasks easier is always appreciated.

Memory Lane
Invite your audience to cruise down memory lane with you and share some unforgettable moments.

As important as it is to get the conversation started, it’s also up to you to engage with your audience and keep the dialogue flowing!
